What is Care Character?

Care Character is a psychometric tool that was designed specifically for the care sector based on the findings of a PhD sponsored by Cohesion Recruitment.

Cohesion have specialised in social care recruitment for over 20 years and are well versed in the problems facing the sector. It is estimated that the sector will require another half a million care workers to meet demand by 2035. In order to support this Cohesion use Values Based Recruitment – that is recruiting people based on their values and soft skills as opposed to experience in the required post. Care Character enables this by assessing people on their core values and aligning these to the 7 qualities required to be a successful carer.

Care Character stands out from other products on the market because it supports candidate engagement. The care sector generally experiences high staff turnover and high drop off rates during the application process. Offering candidates an opportunity to learn more about their strengths and weaknesses prior to an interview increases engagement. The results of the assessment can also be the first step to an on-going training and development plan if the candidate is successful at interview. Rather than using other generalised psychometric assessments, using the specific sector tool ensures greater accuracy when capturing candidate values.
